Door bells are ringing all across the country as the little girls in green begin their annual cookie sales. Having just purchased sixteen boxes of the delectible treats brings to mind memories of my own Girl Scout adventures! My most vivid "cookie" memory involves my collie Saylor and his wanton destruction of an entire case of, yet to be sold cookies!
Valentines Day is just around the corner as well. Many of us will indulge in a heart shaped box or two of delicious chocolates. And, while chocolate may be nirvana for some humans, it is toxic to our furry friends. Chocolate contains Theobromine, and our dogs have difficulty metabolizing this chemical. It can create havoc with their central nervous and cardiovascular systems. The darker the chocolate, the more toxic it becomes. If you suspect your dog has ingested chocolate, please consult your veterinarian immediately,
So, support your favorite Brownies and Girl Scouts by buying cookies, but keep the Thin Mints and Tagalongs away from your dogs. Hide those Valentine treats too! Keep your pets safe and try not to over inulge too much yourself!
